Publicity Campaign: Dyan Tai x Lupa J - ‘King Queen Supreme’

Australia’s most aesthetically and sonically striking queer artists have come together to reveal new single King Queen Supreme set for release on 22nd May 2025.

Produced by Dyan Tai, a Triple J alumni and Unfinished Flume Top 5 Finalist (2023), and Lupa J, an Unearthed High Finalist (2014, 2015), King Queen Supreme is a meticulously crafted track that blends bubblegum bass, PC music, and cantopop influences. The song’s high-energy production is elevated by Tai’s signature use of traditional East Asian instruments, such as the Guzheng and Chinese operatic cymbals, alongside Lupa J’s live violin and dramatic Taiko drum hits.

This collaboration is a bold celebration of genderfluid and gender non-conforming identities, while also serving as a powerful response to the global backlash against trans and gender-diverse communities. The single is accompanied by an avant-garde music video filmed at Wanda Sand Dunes, directed by Audley Anderson and shot by Byron Martin. Featuring a 100% LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC cast dressed as genderless clowns in a dystopian desert, the visuals are as striking as the song itself.

King Queen Supreme follows the success of Dyan Tai’s ‘Let’s Get Bubble Tea!’ (2024), which made waves at Gaytimes Festival and was praised by Rolling Stone Australia as a “song you need to know.” Their subsequent track ‘Hehehaha’ received airplay on Triple J’s Home & Hosed and was added to Spotify’s Glow AUNZ playlist and Apple Music’s Queer Australia. Meanwhile, Lupa J continues to cement their status as a standout artist, with features in The Independent, DIY Mag, and The Music, as well as supporting international artists including Grimes, Alice Glass, Sarah Blasko and Tegan & Sara.

King Queen Supreme is the second single off Dyan’s new EP, Supreme 最高 (July 2025). Led by Dyan Tai, Supreme 最高 is a collaboration with queer, non-binary and BIPOC artists: Lupa J, Jamaica Moana, BVT, Hazboy and supported by SoundNSW.
