Rya Park

‘Everything We Want’ Single + ‘Generational’ EP

Rya Park’s long anticipated debut EP ‘Generational’ is here! 2022 has seen the artist hit the ground running with the release of her two singles earlier in the year, as well as commanding the stage at this year’s St. Kilda Festival alongside Baker Boy and George Alice, supporting Jack River at Peaks and Sounds Festival, as well as gathering many excited and loving fans to her first headline show of the year in March.

The EP ‘Generational’ has seen Rya Park work with the likes of Alex Lahey, Gordi, Edward Quinn (Sycco), Sam Phay (Tyne-James Organ) and Toby Dundas (The Temper Trap) on the body of work, Rya Park tackles the difficult topic of mental health as well as the highs and lows of your 20s.

Rya Park gave fans a glimpse of the EP earlier in the year by releasing the title track in February, followed by ‘Everything We Want’ in May. This saw the artist garner praise from Triple J host Declan Byrne and Double J’s Zan Rowe, as well as being added to the Spotify Editorial Playlists Fresh Finds and New Music Friday.

“This is so great on all levels. Wonderful pop hook, killer chorus, and nails the narrative. At the centre of it all, your voice!” – Zan Rowe, Double J on ‘Generational’

“Rya Park sings about kings and queens and backs it up sounding royal, stylish and super assured” – Declan Byrne, Triple J on ‘Everything We Want’

“If you adore a love song grounded in reality rather than saccharine sentiment, this one’s for you” – Sounds of Oz on ‘Everything We Want’

The 6 track EP features songs tackling heavier topics of the artist’s own personal experience battling with mental health. “When I started writing about my battles with mental health a small, but a noticeable weight lifted. It finally felt like I was telling the real story about myself and not manufacturing one that I thought people would prefer or like better. I wanted to create a package of songs that truly encapsulates all facets of life and mental health in general. That it’s not always bad and there are moments filled with joy, love and fun, that doesn’t change the disorder that I have, and it can flip the switch at any moment,” says Rya Park about her EP.
